Competitions and Events
Throughout the year we organise many different on-site and off-site inter-school competitions and events. We split these events into competitive and participation so that as many children get to represent the school in a sporting activity.
For the competitive events, we hold trials at the beginning of the term. Before each individual event, parents are notified of their child’s involvement and have to give permission for them to attend. For the majority of events, we are able to transport the children using the school mini bus. On some occasions, we may also require parent helpers and people to help with transport.
We have some excellent opportunities in many sports such as Football, Hockey, Netball, Tag Rugby and Cricket where we play in leagues across Wokingham and Berkshire. We also compete in Berkshire School Games and Cluster events involving a range of activities. For all of these events, we aim to uphold and develop all the school values as we see this as an integral part of the children’s sporting progression as well as the skills and knowledge needed to take part in competitions. We also focus on how the children develop their character in an individual and team environment.
In 2021/22, we competed in 40 different events with 113 children between Years 3 – 6 representing the school. Every child in Key Stage 2 also competed in intra-school competitions during their PE sessions.
