PE
Our curriculum is designed so that children will become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness.
Through carefully planned, sequential units of work and lessons, pupils will be able to develop skills in a range of physical and creative activities, team games and competitive sports. We believe that high-quality PE lessons will inspire children to develop co-operation, independence, judgement, critical thinking, resilience and self-reflection. Children will perform confidently, think creatively and lead healthy, active lives. Children will be introduced to a range of sporting and physical challenges that will result in the development of agility, strength, flexibility, balance, co-ordination and technique. In addition, children will gain inspiration and knowledge from great sporting performances and events.
An accessible and engaging curriculum will enable all children to develop understanding, skills and techniques relating to a wide variety of individual sports and activities. They will develop and master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching and perform movement patterns that develop flexibility, control and balance. Children will use and discuss simple tactics and apply basic principles for attack and defence. Children will have the opportunity to experiment and develop skills within team sports, competitive games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and adventurous challenges. Wider opportunities will also be given for children to compete, take part in and observe creative and competitive sporting events. All children will be inspired and encouraged to develop excellence and participate in wider sporting achievements.
